Hi, I'm Prativa

I am an epidemiologist and global health professional working to make our world more prepared against health emergencies and to promote global health equity through my research, advocacy and consultancy. 

I am also the co-founder of Science Connect, a consultancy aimed to help bridge science communication gaps between academia and the rest of the world, and Immunocity, a podcast released during the acute phase of the pandemic to make sense of the changing science and circumstances. I also regularly appeared on local, national, and international media as a COVID-expert for the first two and a half years of the pandemic.

As a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar, a CIHR Foreign Doctoral Study Award holder, and a Johns Hopkins School of Public Health PhD candidate, I operate at the intersection of global health and policy, and examine methods and approaches in health systems strengthening, particularly in the context of crises. I also consult for various international agencies, foundations, and governments.

As an advocate for more inclusive and intentional youth participation in our democratic process and decision-making, I  served as the Canadian head delegate for the G7 Youth Summit in Germany in 2022, and the lone Canadian representative of the Global Shapers delegation at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos in 2023.

Ultimately, I strongly believe that health is a human right, that we deserve better global governance that centres science over politicization, and a more effective global health architecture that is equitable and fair. At its core, I firmly believe that everyone deserves the right to be healthy, irrespective of socioeconomic status or geographic location.
